Rene duplantier
Architect
Rene has a fascination with architecture by non-architects. Growing up in rural Louisiana, his first conceptions of design came from the ad-hoc structures his veterinarian father would build to shelter their pigs, goats, and horses. Later exposure to the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort convinced him that creating and adapting buildings is not reserved for architects; it is an anchor of each person's lived experience.
In five years of practice in New Orleans, Rene honed that innate ability, taking part in numerous historic adaptive re-use projects as well as contextually sensitive new construction. His recent relocation to Seattle comes out of a desire for greater variety in project type, scale, and aesthetics.
Outside of the office, Rene is an appreciative husband, strict cat dad, casual runner, and chaotic songwriter. If you hear him overusing 'interesting,' he means 'curious' not necessarily 'attractive.'
